Kane passes Hull for Blackhawks point scoring record (Video)
With three minutes left in the Chicago Blackhawks game against the Winnipeg Jets, and Patrick Kane without a point, it was possible the forward would not come off the ice.
Lucky for him, the Jets were down 2-1.
Paul Maurice pulled his netminder and Kane had a wide open net to make history. And he did just that by assisting on Artemi Panarin’s empty net goal by literally getting a hand on the puck:
With the point, Kane’s scoring streak hits 22 games. He passes Bobby Hull for the top spot in Blackhawks franchise history. Hull, who was in attendance at United Center for the game, set the record during the 1971-1972 season.
Kane needs 30 more games to break the next record: Wayne Gretzky’s 51 game point scoring streak from the 1983-84 season.
