Ferguson congratulates Klopp on start
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has been congratulated by Sir Alex Ferguson for his dramatic impact at Anfield, the Liverpool Echo has reported.
Klopp, who team have lost only one game since his arrival, was given the LG Performance of the Week award by the League Managers Association after a 6-1 win at Southampton in the Capital One Cup.
Former Manchester United boss Ferguson, a member of the panel that decides the winner, “said congratulations,” Klopp revealed.
The German added: “I’ve had the huge honour of meeting him a few times, and of course he is a role model for every manager in football.
“It was a big pleasure because he’s a funny person and something like a book of history in football, so it was good to spend some time with him.”
Klopp said former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard, training with his club after the end of LA Galaxy’s season, “has the same thing as Alex, only a younger version.”
He added: “It’s good to have him here.
“It’s very important to us because we can show that if you behave like Steven Gerrard in the years he was here and work like he did, then the door has to be open always.”
