Brandon Prust spears Brad Marchand in the groin area (Video)
Vancouver Canucks forward Brandon Prust received a 10-minute misconduct for spearing Boston Bruins forward Brad Marchand in the groin area in their Saturday night game at Rogers Arena.
Above is the video of the play, which occurred in the final two minutes of the Bruins’ 4-0 win over the Canucks.
The spear was a precursor to several physical encounters afterwards. Boston’s Tyler Randell and Vancouver’s Derek Dorsett each received 10 minute misconducts at the 18:35 mark. Prust’s play came at the 18:07 mark.
Said Marchand after the game via NESN, “He just gave me a jab and got me in the fun spot.”
Prust entered the game with five assists and 35 penalty minutes in 16 games played. He had 134 penalty minutes in 82 games last season for the Montreal Canadiens.
Last playoff, Prust was fined $5,000 for comments about referee Brad Watson after Game 2 of Montreal’s series against the Tampa Bay Lightning. He was suspended two-games for a late hit on Derek Stepan of the New York Rangers in the 2014 Eastern Conference Final.
