Nick Foligno beats up Nathan Beaulieu after knee on Fleischmann (Video)
Nick Foligno may have been public enemy No. 1 in Montreal on Tuesday night. Not in, like, on the Zdeno Chara “call 911!” level, but pretty hated.
In the second period between the Columbus Blue Jackets and Montreal Canadiens, Tomas Fleschmann skated down the boards into the Jackets’ zone. Foligno decided to stop him but sticking out his left knee and connecting with Fleschmann’s knee, sending the Canadiens forward down in pain.
Montreal defenseman Nathan Beaulieu skated over and asked for Foligno to answer for his hit.
The Jackets captain obliged and … well, he walloped Beaulieu with a few massive punches, the last one staging the Canadien and sending him wobbling to the ice.
They both received five minutes for fighting and that was it. No kneeing penalty on Foligno, which enraged some Montreal fans, who watched Alexei Emelin ejected for this hit on Christian Thomas earlier in the game.
Oh, and Foligno also scored a goal in the first period, for some extra sand in the Canadiens’ collective face.
