DraftKings daily fantasy value picks for Dec. 1 – NHL.com
Each day during the 2015-16 season, NHL.com’s fantasy staff will identify one player at each position worth owning in DraftKings daily fantasy hockey contests. Based on factors including but not limited to matchups, line combinations, power-play usage, statistical coverage and recent production, we’ll provide you with lower-priced options that can help you build a winning lineup.
Players accumulate points in DraftKings for each goal (3 points), assist (2), shot on goal (0.5), blocked shot (0.5) and shootout goal (0.2). Bonuses are given for shorthanded points (1) and hat tricks (1.5). Goalies accumulate points for each win (3) and save (0.2), and lose a point for each goal allowed. Goalie bonuses are given for a shutout (2) where the goalie completes the entire game with no goals allowed in regulation (and overtime, if applicable). Shootout goals will not prevent a shutout, and goalies will receive points for any goals or assists they score in a game. Penalty minutes, hits, plus-minus and PP points DO NOT count in DraftKings. DraftKings lineups must include nine players (2 C, 3 W, 2 D, 1 G, 1 FLEX) and fit within the $50,000 salary cap.

DraftKings price: $5,900
The formula for picking players in the Stars at Calgary Flames game Tuesday is simple: Dallas leads the NHL with an average of 3.5 goals per game while Calgary is last in the League with a 3.58 goals-against average. Spezza has played well recently with four goals, one assist and 24 shots on goal in his past seven games. The veteran has also benefitted from having two days rest with five goals, one assist and 26 shots on goal in seven games. But if DraftKings owners want an even bigger bargain against Calgary they can go with Cody Eakin ($4,000), who has one goal and five assists in the past six games.
Jakub Voracek, W, Philadelphia Flyers
DraftKings price: $5,800
With 10 games on the schedule Tuesday, there will be a number of mid-priced players flying under the radar. Although Voracek has just one goal through 24 games this season and was moved last week from the top line down to the third line, he has responded well to coach Dave Hakstol’s juggling with four assists and six shots on goal in four games since the demotion. The veteran forward should be a solid selection at the Ottawa Senators based on his eight goals, five assists, six blocked shots and 46 shots on goal in 17 career games against Ottawa.
Rasmus Ristolainen, D, Buffalo Sabres
DraftKings price: $4,700
It’s important to select at least one likely lesser-owned player in DraftKings contests and Ristolainen is a fine choice to fill that roster spot. The Sabres’ top defenseman is averaging 3.4 fantasy points this season which matches more expensive players at his position like P.K. Subban ($6,400) of the Montreal Canadiens or Mark Giordano ($5,800) of the Flames. Ristolainen will try to keep his recent strong play going when Buffalo visits the Detroit Red Wings. The young defenseman has two assists, eight blocked shots and six shots on goal in the past four games.
Cory Schneider, G, New Jersey Devils
DraftKings price: $7,100
Schneider is in the top four among goaltender leaders with 11 wins and a 2.03 goals-against average in 19 games, but remains a mid-priced player for DraftKings. Considering the busy game night, Schneider should make an excellent choice against the visiting Colorado Avalanche. The veteran has been excellent against Colorado in his career with a 6-2-4 record, 1.64 GAA, 372 saves on 393 shots and two shutouts in 12 starts.
