Blazers' Lillard, Clips' Paul exit with injuries
LOS ANGELES — A pair of All-Star point guards suffered third-quarter injuries that sent each to his respective locker room on Monday night in Los Angeles.
Portland Trail Blazers point guard Damian Lillard left the floor with abdominal pain less than two minutes into the second half and was soon followed by Los Angeles Clippers point guard Chris Paul, who exited with a strained muscle in his ribcage at the 5:11 mark of the third quarter. Neither will return to action.
Reserve wing Alan Crabbe replaced Lillard in the Trail Blazers’ lineup, with Clippers backup Austin Rivers spelling Paul.
Lillard scored seven points without an assist in 17 minutes, while Paul tallied 10 points and six assists with a pair of steals in 24 minutes.
