The Clemson Tigers go on the road to tangle with the Minnesota Golden Gophers.
The defensive minded Clemson Tigers are off to a solid 4-1 start with nice balance at both ends of the floor. A 76-58 victory versus Rutgers is exactly how things have gone for this team with a 12 point first half on 51% shooting carrying the day. The Scarlet Knights didn’t shoot badly at nearly 47% but Clemson had advantages everywhere and the result was a double digit victory. The duo of Donte Grantham and Jaron Blossumgame pumped in 22 points apiece and combined for 15 rebounds while Landry Nnoko added 14 points and five yanks.
USA TODAY Sports
The Minnesota Golden Gophers are off to a very good start to the year behind an above average offense and adequate defense. The Golden Gophers come off a 93-90 win versus Nebraska Omaha as an eleven point favorite so they obviously had some trouble. Both teams sank shots in the 48%-49% range but even though the Mavericks sank more field goals the Golden Gophers nailed more threes and free throws. Joey King led five double digit scorers with 18 points on 5-7 followed by a 17 point, six pull effort by Carlos Morris. Nate Mason added 16 points and eight assists while Bakary Konate and Jordan Murphy scored 14 points each and combined for 16 boards.
The over is 6-2 in Clemson’s last 8 overall and the under is 6-2 in their last 8 road games while the Tigers are 2-6 ATS in their last 8 vs. Big Ten. The over is 9-1-2 in Minnesota’s last 12 Monday games and is 12-3-1 in their last 16 home games while Minnesota are 2-6 ATS in their last 8 home games. I think (I said think) Clemson has played better basketball so I’ll back them…
Clemson +1
