Victor Valdes set to leave Man United
Victor Valdes is set to end his ill-fated spell at Manchester United with the goalkeeper close to cancelling his contract at Old Trafford, sources have told ESPN FC.
Valdes has been frozen out of the first-team picture at United after a falling out with van Gaal earlier in the summer, with the Dutchman claiming it was Valdes’ refusal to play in an under-21s match that resulted in him being omitted from his plans.
Valdes has not been allocated a squad number in United’s Premier League squad and has been forced to train away from the club’s first-team.
The 33-year-old joined United last January on an initial 18-month deal after working his way back to fitness following a serious knee injury sustained the previous March.
United and Valdes have been trying to thrash out a resolution between both parties and sources have told ESPN FC an agreement to let the keeper to move on is close to being resolved.
Valdes is keen to leave Old Trafford to get his career back on track and it seems the player will be granted his wish.
A number of Premier League clubs have shown an interest in Valdes, but United were reluctant to let him join a Premier League rival preferring him to go abroad.
Several sides in Valdes’ native Spain, including Espanyol and Valencia are readying moves for the keeper and he is sure to have no shortage of suitors on a free transfer.
