Michigan State head coach Tom Izzo picks up 500th win – Sports Illustrated
Michigan state head coach Tom Izzo reached 500 wins as the Spartans took down the Boston College Eagles 99–68 on Thursday night.
Win the win, Izzo became the 60th coach to reach the milestone. Izzo is in his 21st season has head coach of Michigan State, and he is just the eighth Division I coach to earn 500 wins in his first 21 seasons.
Denzel Valentine helped Izzo achieve the milestone, notching a triple double against the Eagles with 29 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists. Valentine also recorded a triple double in the team’s 79–73 win over Kansas last week. He is averaging 15.3 points, 9.8 assists, and 9.0 rebounds over five games this season.

The Spartans are now 5–0 to start the season. The team is set to take on the Boise State Broncos (3–2) on Friday evening.
