Best College Football Bets: Easy picks on Baylor-TCU and Bedlam – CBSSports.com
Each week, I will use this space to tell you what I think are a few of the best bets heading into the weekend. I will also give you an upset of the week, which will be a team that is at least a touchdown underdog that I am picking to not only cover, but win.
As always, all picks are for entertainment purposes only!
This is the last full week of the regular season. Sure, there are a handful of games next week besides the conference championships, but most teams will be done after this Saturday. I had my third straight 3-1 week with the picks, and I’m happy with that. The season total stands at 23-19. I’m due to hit an upset special, though.
It’s rivalry week! You can throw out the records. Also, most of the quarterbacks. And probably most of the lines, too.
Week 13 Picks
Baylor at TCU (+1.5): We don’t know yet if TCU will have quarterback Trevone Boykin back for this game, but we do know that Baylor will not have Jarrett Stidham. He’s out for the season with a broken ankle. That leaves the Bears with their third-string QB, Chris Johnson. Baylor is hoping for the same success Ohio State had with the three-QB system. TCU will be better prepared for Johnson that Oklahoma State. Pick: TCU (+1.5)

Penn State at Michigan State (-11): The Spartans beat Ohio State without quarterback Connor Cook, and they may need to beat Penn State without him as well. Whether Cook plays is a game-time decision. The Nittany Lions have enough defense to make this close. Pick: Penn State (+11)

Oklahoma at Oklahoma State (+6.5): Sooners quarterback Baker Mayfield is expected to return from a concussion suffered last week against TCU. Oklahoma has been as hot as anyone over the last month and a half. The Cowboys’ defense is struggling. Pick: Oklahoma (-6.5)

Western Michigan at Toledo (-8): It’s been a good week for Toledo already. The Rockets made an appearance in the College Football Playoff Rankings this week at No. 24. Then, Northern Illinois lost to Ohio, giving Toledo to a chance to win the MAC and make that ranking relevant. If the Rockets beat the Broncos, they will have to beat Bowling Green again to win the league. If that happens, Toledo will be poised to take advantage of any chaos in the American Athletic Conference. Pick: Toledo (-8)

Upset of the Week
Kansas State at Kansas (+20): Forget those measly one touchdown underdogs. It’s time to go big or go home! You know this is a rivalry that means business because it’s called the “Sunflower Showdown.” Neither of these teams are playing well. The Wildcats broke a six game losing streak last week. CBS Bottom 25 No. 2 Kansas has won just once in the last 20 games and that win was last year. The victim for each team was Iowa State, so they do have something in common. For all the sunflower seeds … Pick: Kansas (+20)
