Hank the Ballpark Pup to make stage debut in ‘A Christmas Carol’
It’s been awhile since we’ve heard from Hank the Ballpark Pup, but it turns out there’s a good reason. The Milwaukee Brewers canine mascot, who stole the hearts of baseball fans when he trotted on to the scene during spring training in 2014, is preparing to steal hearts again on the theater stage.
According to Cait Moyer, author of the Brewers’ blog Cait Covers The Bases, Hank will make his acting debut at the Milwaukee Repertory Theater on Dec. 9, during a production of the Charles Dickens’ classic ‘A Christmas Carol.’
To commemorate the 40th anniversary of this beloved Milwaukee holiday tradition, the Milwaukee Rep is welcoming a host of special guests to participate in a small role in the production and launching a series of events and promotions to connect with fans and families in the weeks leading up to the show’s opening and beyond.
Hank’s inclusion reaffirms the celebrity status he’s already achieved in Milwaukee. He’ll join Mayor Tom Barrett and several other personalities and community leaders, all of whom are slated to appear as townspeople in Act II of the production. The guest celebrities will rotate throughout the production’s run, which goes from Dec. 1-24, but Hank may be well the hottest ticket of the bunch.

It also add to an impressive addition to Hank’s resume, which includes mascot duties, a run as Go-Pro photographer and Dog of the Year honors last year
The dates of Hank’s appearances have not been confirmed, but it’s known he’ll be involved in several shows. You can visit the Milwaukee Rep website for all of the latest details on showtimes if you’re interested in catching Hank or you’re just in the Christmas spirit.
Hank will also be involved in a meet and greet with fans following his debut show on Dec. 9.
Holiday pawtographs for all!
