2015 NFL picks against the spread: Thanksgiving football picks – Revenge of the Birds
Tim Heitman-USA TODAY Sports
It is Thanksgiving! It is time for food, family and football. Today there are three games — two we always expect and a Thursday Night Football matchup. As is the tradition, the Cowboys and the Lions host a game. The nightcap is an old rivalry — Bears/Packers. What are my picks against the Vegas spread? Here we go.
Eagles at Lions (-2.5): I have picked against the Lions the last two weeks and they have burned me. I guess they have started to figure things out. The Eagles, though, are a bit of a mess. They have lost to the Dolphins and to the Bucs. Detroit’s defense has figured things out and Philly is on the verge of having the season fall apart with the grumblings of the team, players and coach all being tired of how things are run. Plus a short week always favors the home team. Lions -2.5.
Panthers at Cowboys (-1.5): I cannot understand for the life of me why the Cowboys are favored in this game against a 10-0 team. But this is the perfect storm. It is a short week and Carolina has to travel. Tony Romo is back, which means the offense for the Cowboys is potent enough to score points on really anybody. The Panthers have to lose at some point, right? Dallas knows they have to pretty much win every game if they want to get to the postseason. I like the focus they will have. Cowboys -1.5.
Bears at Packers (-9): Just when I thought the Bears were a team I could trust, they went and lost to Brock Osweiler when in all reality they should have won. And the Packers seem to have figured things out. Do I completely trust them? No. I think they will still have trouble stopping Jay Cutler. I also think the Bears defense will not stop Rodgers. So while I have the Packers winning this game, the line is too high. I’ll take the points. Bears +9.
