Football Daily Dose: Dose: Lynch Out Indefinitely
Marshawn Lynch will reportedly undergo sports-hernia surgery on Wednesday and is expected to miss the next 4-5 weeks at minimum. It’s the same procedure Arian Foster underwent over the summer that forced him to miss eight weeks. Lynch and Foster are both older running backs that likely require more time to recover than their younger teammates. In a best-case scenario, it sounds like Lynch could be back by Week 16. We’d consider than extremely unlikely at this point.
It’ll be the Thomas Rawls show at running back for the foreseeable future in Seattle. Even before this news came out about Lynch needing surgery, Rawls was the No. 1 waiver add of the week. Lynch needing surgery and likely to miss the rest of the re-draft fantasy season has solidified Rawls as the top add. After piling up 254 total yards and two touchdowns against the 49ers last Sunday, Rawls has serious high-end RB1 upside and should see 20-plus touches weekly. Lynch owners can probably cut bait without any regrets. It’s very possible he’s started his final game for the Seahawks.

Danny Amendola sprained his knee in the fourth quarter of Monday night’s win over the Bills after catching 9-of-12 targets for 117 scoreless yards. He underwent an MRI on Tuesday, and Amendola isn’t expected to miss significant time. He could sit out Week 12 against the Broncos, but would be expected back for the next game at the very latest. Amendola’s status will continue to be updated throughout the practice week. New England travels to Denver for Sunday Night Football.
The Browns are coming off their bye. During it, Johnny Manziel apparently went partying, and a video showed up on social media. Coach Mike Pettine decided to bench Manziel on Tuesday and demote him to third-string. Josh McCown will start Sunday against the Ravens, and Austin Davis will be the backup. Per Pettine, Manziel has violated the team’s trust and “led to much disappointment and frustration.” Manziel may be done in Cleveland. McCown is a very interesting streaming option for Week 12 after he diced this Baltimore defense for 457 yards and two scores in Week 5.
Suspended Rams WR Stedman Bailey was shot twice in the head on Tuesday evening in his home state of Florida and is in the hospital awaiting surgery Wednesday morning. He’s said to be in stable condition, and the injuries aren’t believed to be life-threatening at this time. Bailey was reportedly the passenger in a car, with his cousin as the driver, and two younger relatives in the back seat. The driver took the brunt of the damage and may be clinging to his life.
Peyton Manning visited renowned foot specialist Dr. Robert Anderson in North Carolina this week, and it’s been determined Manning will miss “at least” the next two weeks with a torn plantar fascia. He’ll be in a walking cast for the next week. Coach Gary Kubiak said he expects Manning to be available down the stretch. For now, Brock Osweiler will continue to make starts and could hold onto the job even when Manning returns to health. Free agent Christian Ponder will work out for the Broncos on Wednesday in an audition to be Osweiler’s backup.
