The UCLA Bruins and Kansas Jayhawks square off Tuesday night at the Lahaina Civic Center.
The UCLA Bruins are fresh off a 77-75 victory over UNLV on Monday. In the victory, UCLA shot 45.5 percent from the field and had 19 turnovers. Thomas Welsh led the Bruins with 20 points and eight rebounds while Bryce Alford had 20 points and six rebounds. The UCLA Bruins have bounced back quite nicely since their opening loss to Monmouth and have a chance to prove that they’re a legit tournament team in this matchup. We know UCLA can score, but the Bruins have to be better defensively and take much better care of the basketball. UCLA has 36 turnovers in its last two games. Tony Parker should be well rested for this matchup after missing much of Monday’s game due to constant foul trouble.

The Kansas Jayhawks are coming off a 123-72 victory over Chaminade on Monday. In the win, Kansas shot 64.4 percent from the field and made 15 threes. Wayne Selden Jr. led the Jayhawks with 18 points and seven assists while Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk had 18 points and three rebounds off the bench. The Kansas Jayhawks rebounded nicely from their loss to Michigan State, but this game will give us a much better feel for who this team is this season. Kansas has now made 18 threes in its last two games and came into this tournament shooting 43.9 percent from beyond the arc. This is going to be a strong test and chance for the Jayhawks to redeem themselves from that loss to the Spartans.
The Jayhawks are 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games following a ATS win and 2-6 ATS in their last 8 games following a S.U. win. The Bruins are 4-11 ATS in their last 15 non-conference games and 8-1 ATS in their last 9 games vs. a team with a winning S.U. record. The Jayhawks are 2-5 ATS in the last 7 meetings.
UCLA has a solid team with shooters and a big man in Parker who can go toe-to-toe with the Jayhawks. I expect this game to be close and the points should come in handy. Don’t sleep on the Bruins.
UCLA +9
