David Price may not have been a member of the Toronto Blue Jays for long, but he made a huge impact on the fan base. Maybe it was his personality, or his amusing Twitter page. Or maybe it was the fact that he performed pretty well for the club down the stretch.
Whatever it was, Price clearly made an impact on the fans. Now that Price one of the highest ranked free agents available, those fans will do whatever it takes to make sure he sticks in Toronto. They are so committed, in fact, that they created a website dedicated to making sure Price returns.
The site, called Any Price For David, gives fans a chance to add their own, personal clause to Price’s next contract. Basically, fans fill out a statement that reads “If David Price stays in Toronto, I, [fans name], agree to [whatever they will do].
Thus far, fans have promised to give Price free meals, wash his car for free and buy his dog, Astro, food for life. Those are some of the more reasonable suggestions. Others involve nudity and chugging shampoo.
Aside from those last two, most of the pledges definitely benefit Price. Who doesn’t want a couple free meals, or someone to do their laundry for a year? If he re-signs with Toronto, he not only makes a ton of money, but he gets these extra perks. Not bad, Blue Jays fans. Not bad.
None of this will actually happen, but who cares. As of right now, the website has over 3,000 signatures, so fans are clearly passionate about bringing Price back. For what it’s worth, Price seemed to enjoy his time in Toronto, and most reports have them as one of the favorites to sign him this offseason.
Maybe part of that has to do with the crazy, passionate fan base. Maybe the other part has to do with David Price really wanting some free meals. Whatever gets the job done.
