DraftKings daily fantasy value picks for Nov. 24 – NHL.com
Each day during the 2015-16 season, NHL.com’s fantasy staff will identify one player at each position worth owning in DraftKings daily fantasy hockey contests. Based on factors including but not limited to matchups, line combinations, power-play usage, statistical coverage and recent production, we’ll provide you with lower-priced options that can help you build a winning lineup.
Players accumulate points in DraftKings for each goal (3 points), assist (2), shot on goal (0.5), blocked shot (0.5) and shootout goal (0.2). Bonuses are given for shorthanded points (1) and hat tricks (1.5). Goalies accumulate points for each win (3) and save (0.2), and lose a point for each goal allowed. Goalie bonuses are given for a shutout (2) where the goalie completes the entire game with no goals allowed in regulation (and overtime, if applicable). Shootout goals will not prevent a shutout, and goalies will receive points for any goals or assists they score in a game. Penalty minutes, hits, plus-minus and PP points DO NOT count in DraftKings. DraftKings lineups must include nine players (2 C, 3 W, 2 D, 1 G, 1 FLEX) and fit within the $50,000 salary cap.
DraftKings price: $3,900
Third-line forwards are important in DraftKings contests that include only two NHL games. Going with an uncommon choice like Eakin at home Tuesday against the Ottawa Senators (8:30 p.m. ET, NHLN, RDS) is necessary since most depth players likely will be owned by more teams than usual. Eakin will try to extend his point streak to four Tuesday. He has one goal, two assists and four shots on goal in that span.
Michael Frolik, W, Calgary Flames
DraftKings price: $4,700
Sticking with the strategy of stacking teams full of abstract picks on the light game night, Frolik should get strong consideration at the Anaheim Ducks. The veteran forward has not gone more than three games without a point through 21 games this season so he’s due for a goal or assist after being kept off the score sheet the past three games. Frolik has scored each of his four goals this season on the road.
DraftKings price: $3,900
While statistics account for a majority of information that DraftKings owners have to go on, sometimes you have to abandon the numbers and take a chance on a player considered to be in a favorable situation. Fowler has provided owners with 2.3 fantasy points per game but those numbers can increase against the Flames considering Calgary is 30th in the NHL allowing 3.52 goals per game in 21 games this season. The Ducks’ first-unit defenseman at even strength and power play has a goal, assist, five blocked shots and five shots on goal in the past three games.
DraftKings price: $7,000
It’s becoming repetitive, but Niemi or Kari Lehtonen remain a must start every night Dallas is playing. The Stars website reports that Niemi will get a second straight start Tuesday when Dallas hosts Ottawa. Dallas is in the midst of a five-game winning streak and is 7-0-1, including a seven-game winning streak, in the past eight games against Ottawa dating to the 2008-09 season. Niemi will try for a third straight win while attempting to improve upon a 5-1-0 home record this season including two shutouts.
