Florida QB Grier loses appeal of suspension
Florida redshirt freshman quarterback Will Grier will not have his 12-month suspension for taking a banned substance reversed or shortened. Florida has confirmed the news first reportedy by the Orlando Sentinel.
Grier was suspended for 365 days on Oct. 12 but appealed the NCAA’s decision. That appeal has reportedly been denied, and his 12-month suspension will stand.
Grier will not be eligible to play for the Gators until the seventh game of the 2016 season, which will take place against Missouri on Oct. 15 in Gainesville.
In six games this season, Grier completed 65.8 percent of his passes for 1,204 yards, 10 touchdowns and three interceptions. After losing the starting job early this season to Grier, sophomore Treon Harris took his place the Gators’ starter and has led Florida to a 3-1 record in Grier’s absence.
