The Arkansas Razorbacks fell to 1-1 (0-0 SEC) on the season after being upset at home against the Akron Zips, 88-80, this past Wednesday. Arkansas found themselves down by 8 points at halftime and although they scored 51 points in the 2nd half, they couldn’t make up any ground on the Zips. Arkansas shot 38.1% from the field and 30.0% (6-20) from beyond the arc. The Razorbacks allowed the Zips to shoot 50.9% from the field and 46.4% (13-28) from beyond the arc in the loss. Leading the way for Arkansas was Moses Kingsley who had a double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds. Also contributing for the Razorbacks was Dusty Hannahs who had 16 points and Anthlon Bell who had 23 points off the bench. On the season, Arkansas has been led by Mosey Kingsley (19.5 ppg, 12.0 rpg, 2.5 spg, 3.0 bpg), Anthlon Bell (18.5 ppg, 2.0 rpg), and Dusty Hannahs (18.5 ppg). Offensively, Arkansas is shooting 43.4% from the field and has an assist/turnover ratio of 1.73. Defensively, the Razorbacks are allowing their opponents to shoot 46.4% from the field and is averaging 8.5 spg.
The Buccaneers are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 road games and 4-1 ATS in their 5 non-conference games. The Razorbacks are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 home games and 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games overall.
Charles Southern lost 4 of their top 5 scorers from last year’s 19-12 team and it looks as if Charleston Southern has had trouble finding their offense against NCAA level competition. Arkansas lost two of their biggest pieces from last year’s NCAA team in Bobby Portis and Michael Qualls and although they lost a tough game to a good Akron Zips team, they do have a very talented player in Moses Kingsley. This game has yet to be lined, but unless the spread is in the mid-20’s, I’m going to be taking Arkansas in this one.
