LeBron bests West for 19th on NBA scoring list
AUBURN HILLS, Mich. — LeBron James continued his climb up the NBA’s all-time scoring list Tuesday by passing Jerry West for No. 19th with 25,193 career points.
James entered the night needing 10 points to pass “The Logo.” He got them early and eclipsed West with a corner 3-pointer with 2:55 remaining in the first quarter of the Cleveland Cavaliers‘ road game against the Detroit Pistons.
West played 932 games over 14 seasons to reach his point total. James reached the mark in his 922nd game as a 13-year veteran.
Next on the list is Indiana Pacers great Reggie Miller, at No. 18 with 25,279 points.
James entered Tuesday averaging 27.0 points per game this season.
If he is able to maintain that average while playing all 82 games for the Cavs, as he has stated is his goal, he could pass Hakeem Olajuwon’s 26,946 points, which currently rank 10th all-time.
