Patriots’ NFL record for scoring in consecutive quarters is 35 and counting
The 2015 New England Patriots have been compared often to their 2007 counterparts offensively. But there’s one statistic in which this season’s offense has bested its predecessors.
And they extended it beyond that … and counting.
The record was set when Tom Brady — having an MVP type of season — hit Scott Chandler on a 1-yard TD pass to cap off a 14-play, 80-yard drive to open the game against the New York Giants.
The Patriots were held scoreless in the first quarter of the season against the Pittsburgh Steelers. They’ve scored in every quarter since.
The Patriots extended the record to 33 with a Stephen Gostkowski field goal in the second quarter; to 34 with a LeGarrette Blount 1-yard TD run in the third; and to 35 quarters in row with Brady’s 76-yard TD pass to Rob Gronkowski in the fourth. They can extend the streak ever farther at home in Week 11 against the Buffalo Bills.
The Patriots clawed back to beat the Giants, 27-26, on a dramatic, last-second drive at MetLife Stadium.
