Madrid interested in Lewandowski – agent
Real Madrid are interested in signing Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski, one of his agents has told Marca.
Poland international Lewandowski has been in excellent form for both club and his country this season and his German agent, Maik Barthel, said last week that Premier League clubs are keen on signing the striker.
The 27-year-old’s Polish agent, Cezary Kucharski, has now said Madrid are tracking the former Borussia Dortmund star, who scored four goals against Los Blancos in the first leg of the 2013 Champions League semifinal.
“You cannot deny that there is interest from Real Madrid,” Kucharsky said.
In January last year, shortly after Lewandowski had agreed to join Bayern on a free transfer from Dortmund, Barthel said Madrid had made an attempt to hijack the transfer.
Marca reports that Madrid made a further attempt to sign Lewandowski in the summer, but the Spanish newspaper also quotes the striker as saying: “There has been no contact over the past few months.”
Lewandowski, who struck a brace for Poland in their 4-2 win over Iceland on Friday, has been central to Bayern’s successful start this season, with 19 goals in 17 games.
He is under contract at the Allianz Arena until 2019.
