Giants’ Victor Cruz announces he will undergo season-ending surgery
he’s undergoing season-ending calf surgery.
More injury news this Monday morning, this time from New York GIants’ receiver Victor Cruz:Cruz, who tore the patellar tendon in his right knee last October, suffered a calf injury during training camp and has not played this season.
In a video posted on UNINTERRUPTED, Cruz said:
“I just got news that I will be having season-ending surgery on my left calf. This hurts because I’ve worked so hard to come back from patellar tendon surgery, fought hard day in and day out, rehab, physical work, strength work, and felt like I was back to 100 percent and then the calf happens and it’s tough thing to go through. It’s a tough thing to go through emotionally, physically. …
“I’m excited actually for the challenge, to go back and get my body taken care of and get back to 100 percent and see what happens, really see where it goes. it’s a tough time for me, tough time for my family, tough time for all of us because we were so excited about coming back and being part of something special…but unfortuantely I couldn’t do that this year. My calf injury, it’s out of my control, but I’m excited for the next chapter.”
Emotional, he closed by saying, “I hope you guys don’t lose faith in me, because I haven’t lost faith in myself.”
Cruz signed a five-year, $43 million contract with the Giants before the 2014 season and so far has played just six games under that new deal.
