Football Daily Dose: Daily Dose: Miserable Manning
The Week 10 finish line is getting closer, as only a matchup between Cincinnati and Houston stands between the fantasy world and Week 11. The fantasy regular season is now in its final weeks, so every catch, pass, and kick will earn added emphasis as fantasy football wins and playoff berths hang in the balance. Sunday of Week 10 roared through fantasy leagues with no shortage of excitement, as a Hall of Fame quarterback was benched, an injured quarterback strapped on a cape and saved his team, and yet another team shredded the New Orleans defense. With Week 10 nearly tucked into bed, lets quickly run through a few of Sunday’s most notable storylines in Monday’s Daily Dose.
Peyton Hits The Pine
Peyton Manning had a difficult Sunday, to say the absolute least, and was mercifully benched for backup quarterback Brock Osweiler after throwing four interceptions and completing only five of 20 pass attempts for 35 yards. While Manning has been far from the Hall of Fame quarterback we are used to watching in 2015, Sunday was a new low. After the game, in which Denver lost to Kansas City 29-13, Manning and coach Gary Kubiak both alluded to Manning playing through injuries and a total of 17 interceptions thrown in nine games suggests that Denver may be in better hands with Osweiler under center right now. The backup was far from great after replacing Manning, but went 14 of 24 for 146 yards with one touchdown and one interception. Despite the struggles and injury status of Manning, coach Kubiak reiterated on Sunday that Manning will be the starting Denver quarterback as long as he is healthy. No matter which player takes the snaps for Denver, neither will be a fantasy option down the stretch this season and the pass catchers on Denver’s team will need some consistency from the quarterback spot to produce in the final weeks of the fantasy regular season.

New England Injury Woes Continue
After catching four passes for 53 yards on Sunday, Julian Edelman broke a bone in his foot and will likely miss at least the remainder of the NFL regular season. This is a huge loss for the Patriots and fantasy owners alike, as Edelman had been a pass catching machine in 2015, registering at least four grabs in every game this season. Added importance was placed on Edelman’s role in New England’s offense after Dion Lewis (knee) was lost for the season, but Tom Brady will be looking for a new underneath target as he is now without his top two options in the short passing game. The most obvious fantasy beneficiary in this situation in Danny Amendola, who caught 10 passes on 11 targets for 79 yards on Sunday, making him a must-add in all fantasy leagues. The rest of the remaining healthy Patriots receiving options should see a boost in targets with Edelman out, but expect Amendola to see the most significant jump.
Langford Gets Loose Again
With Matt Forte (knee) on the shelf yet again, Jeremy Langford was given another start at running back for the Chicago Bears, but this week’s matchup at St. Louis was expected to be a stiff test for the rookie. Langford passed his latest exam with flying colors as he roasted the St. Louis defense for 182 total yards and two touchdowns on 27 touches. Langford has now stacked up 324 total yards over the last two weeks and has looked very impressive along the way. Moving forward, Langford will be locked-in as a weekly fantasy starter due to his workload levels alone, but should earn some more reps alongside Forte once the veteran returns. Either way, 2016 free agent Matt Forte should start looking for real estate in other cities.

Big Ben Saves The Day
The Pittsburgh Steelers labeled Ben Roethlisberger (foot) as the team’s “backup” on Sunday, with Landry Jones drawing the start against Cleveland. Despite sounding a bit odd at the time, this move saved the Steelers on Sunday as Jones was knocked out of the game with an ankle injury and Roethlisberger came in and delivered Pittsburgh a 30-9 win. Both Antonio Brown and Martavis Bryant exploded with fantasy production with Roethlisberger under center and the Pittsburgh quarterback finished with an impressive 379 yards and three touchdowns on the day. Pittsburgh will now enjoy a bye, which should give Roethlisberger plenty of time to heal before a Week 12 trip to Seattle. All the main players in the Pittsburgh offense are top-notch fantasy options with Roethlisberger active, as this offense is incredibly explosive.
Injury Quick Slants
Michael Floyd was forced from Sunday night’s game with a hamstring injury after shredding Seattle for 113 yards and two touchdowns on seven catches. … Marshawn Lynch (abdomen) was active on Sunday night and turned in 50 total yards and a score on nine touches after concern was raised about his playing status over the weekend. … Emmanuel Sanders (ankle) was active on Sunday but didn’t catch a single pass and was evaluated for a concussion during Denver’s loss to Kansas City. … John Brown (hamstring) was active on Sunday night but couldn’t haul in any of his three targets and has been ineffective since the hamstring issues popped up. … Ryan Mathews suffered a concussion on Sunday as Philadelphia played Miami.
