T.J. Ward ejected for punching Chiefs receiver Jeremy Maclin in the head
What is it with the Denver Broncos’ defensive backs and classless acts in the fourth quarter?
Last week Aqib Talib poked Indianapolis Colts tight end Dwayne Allen in the eye and got suspended for a game. The NFL needs to look at whether to do the same with Broncos safety T.J. Ward after his own cheap shot on Sunday.
At the end of a long touchdown catch by Kansas City Chiefs running back Charcandrick West, receiver Jeremy Maclin got in front of Ward and blocked him. It’s arguable what Maclin did was unnecessary because West was going to score anyway, but it wasn’t dirty. What Ward did was.
Ward knocked Maclin to the ground (fine) and then punched him in the head (not fine at all). Ward was immediately ejected from the game.
It’s not a good look for the Broncos, who were riding high at 7-0 but now have lost two straight. It seems they don’t take losing well. Frustration boiled over for them as the Chiefs took a 29-0 lead, and it’s going to cost Ward once the NFL looks at it.
