Manchester United eye £15m Vardy swoop
The winter window gets closer with each passing day and the transfer rumour mill is starting to pick up steam. As always, Transfer Talk has the latest and greatest. See all the summer deals here.
TOP STORY: Man United in for Vardy
Come January, an outstanding goal-scoring streak may not be the only thing that links Manchester United legend Ruud van Nistelrooy and Leicester City sensation Jamie Vardy.
The Foxes striker has a real chance of levelling Van Nistelrooy’s Premier League record of scoring in 10 successive matches when Leicester head to Newcastle next week. Vardy may join the Dutchman on the list of men who have pulled on the famous Red Devils strip.
The Star reports that Louis van Gaal is taking a keen interest in the 28-year-old forward who, like former targets Harry Kane and Danny Ings, not only fits the bill from a playing perspective, but he would also help fulfill the quota of homegrown players plying their trade at Old Trafford.
But how much would Man United be willing to spend on Vardy? The Star suggests £15 million — surely a record for any Fleetwood Town alumnus.

Neville prefers Bale to Ronaldo
The Daily Star bring us the story of the confounding choices those poor elite clubs have to wrestle with each window. The outlet quotes former Man United player-turned-pundit Gary Neville as saying Gareth Bale would be a better choice for the Red Devils than his Real Madrid teammate Cristiano Ronaldo.
Neville played with Ronaldo at the end of his Man United career and is fully aware of what the Portuguese brings to the table.
“What [Ronaldo] did before at United was, for two years, out of this world and it was a privilege to be part of it. But I would certainly prefer us to get Bale — and that’s no disrespect to Cristiano.”
That this dialogue is even happening speaks to the embarrassment of riches at Old Trafford.
Non-League starlet wanted by the big boys
It reads like the plot of a Hollywood film.
The Mail says that Chelsea are among a host of clubs scouting Welling United’s 19-year-old midfielder Sam Corne.
The Wings currently play in the National League, the fifth tier of England’s football pyramid, and are bracing themselves for a surge of activity around their young captain once the January transfer window opens.
Named the division’s player of the month for October, the former Cambridge player has turned in a series of performances that have made scouts across London sit up and take notice.
Jose Mourinho’s men currently lead the charge, but League One side Millwall are also in the running — they hope the offer of first-team football will help lure Corne to the Den.
Let’s hope the young star can secure his dream move.
Spurs scouting Vida
There were some interested onlookers in the stands for Chelsea’s 2-1 win against Dynamo Kiev on Nov. 4, according to a Daily Star report, Tottenham had scouts at Stamford Bridge to monitor the progress of Dynamo defender Domagoj Vida, and according to the report, they liked what they saw.
The Croatian would, ostensibly, be brought to White Hart Lane to provide additional defensive cover for Mauricio Pochettino, whose Spurs team look like legitimate top-four contenders after having not lost a match since the Premier League’s opening weekend.
If Dynamo fail to make it out of the Champions League group stage — they are currently in third behind Porto and Chelsea in Group G — the Russian outfit could be willing to part ways with the 26-year-old.
