Ben Roethlisberger active for Steelers … but will he play vs. Browns?
The big news Sunday morning was that Ben Roethlisberger is active for the Pittsburgh Steelers against the Cleveland Browns.
But will he play?
That was the question when the Steelers’ lineups were announced. Both Roethlisberger and Landry Jones — who prepared all week to start in his place — were active, and No. 3 QB Michael Vick was inactives.
Typically, lineups are made available to the media 90 minutes prior to kickoff, and all indications are that Jones would start and Roethlisberger would be the backup.

Roethlisberger suffered a mid-foot sprain last week against the Oakland Raiders and was taken for X-rays. The injury was classified as a mult-week one, and the Steelers have a Week 11 bye. But Roethlisberger shed his walking boot several days earlier than expected and was able to practice on a limited basis this week.
Roethlisberger would not close the door on playing this week, leaving it “slightly ajar” when asked about his availability against the Browns.
Landry lost his only start in place of Roethlisberger, who suffered a sprained MCL earlier in the season, but was effective coming off the bench twice, including last week when he helped lead the Steelers in the Raiders win.
Could the Steelers go to Roethlisberger if Jones struggles, as he did against the Kansas City Chiefs on the road?
