NHL Three Stars: Zucker plays OT hero for Wild; Zuccarello leads Rangers
No. 1 Star: Jason Zucker, Minnesota Wild
Zucker scored twice, with his second of the night coming in overtime as the Wild edged the Carolina Hurricanes 3-2 for their third straight win. Devan Dubnyk made 37 saves and Ryan Suter contributed a pair of assists.
No. 2 Star: Mats Zuccarello, New York Rangers
Zuccarello helped the Rangers jump out to a 3-0 first period lead which ended with New York doubling up the St. Louis Blues 6-3 for their seventh win in a row. A three-point night for the “Hobbit” was highlighted with this pretty goal:

No. 3 Star: Linus Ullmark, Buffalo Sabres
Sam Reinhart’s early third period power play goal held up as the winner to help give the Buffalo Sabres a 3-2 win over the Florida Panthers. Ullmark made 36 saves for his fourth win of the season. The win helped the Sabres reach the .500 mark, the first time they’ve done so since the final game of the 2013 NHL season.
Honorable Mention: Matt Duchene’s go-ahead goal in the third period would stand as the game winner as the Colorado Avalanche topped the Boston Bruins 3-2. Carl Soderberg scored in his return to Boston and Reto Berra made 25 saves for his second straight win. Duchene added an assist as the Bruins dropped their fourth in five games … Erik Karlsson’s second period goal ended as the game winner as the Ottawa Senators got by the Vancouver Canucks 3-2. Andrew Hammond made 33 saves and the Senators were boosted by two power play goals … Drew Doughty and Milan Lucic provided the goals and Jhonas Enroth made 31 saves as the Los Angeles Kings downed the New York Islanders 2-1. … Ben Bishop’s 30 saves and third period goals by Steven Stamkos and Tyler Johnson helped the Tampa Bay Lightning beat the Calgary Flames 3-1 … The Dallas Stars scored three times in the final 5:55 to double up the Winnipeg Jets 6-3. Ales Hemsky had a goal and two assists, while Tyler Seguin, Colton Sceviour, Johnny Oduya, John Klingberg and Vernon Fiddler each recorded two points … If Jim Nill is short on goalies, he could always ask Jason Demers:
Mike Smith made 27 saves and Max Domi and Brad Richardson each had two points as the Arizona Coyotes beat the Edmonton Oilers 4-1. According to the AP, the Coyotes are now 16-0-3 in their last 19 games against the Oilers. Arizona captain Shane Doan played game his 1,410th game to pass Paul Coffey and tie Norm Ullman for 31st on the NHL’s all-time list. … Jaromir Jagr played in his 1,564th career NHL game, tying him with Nicklas Lidstrom for 10th all-time … Peter Holland scored the only goal of the shootout in the fifth round and James Reimer made 21 saves as the Toronto Maple Leafs topped the Nashville Predators 2-1. Shea Weber, playing in his 700th NHL game, scored the only goal for the Predators … Sergey Kalinin’s power play tally with 2:27 left in the third period snapped a 2-2 tie and gave the New Jersey Devils a 3-2 win over the Chicago Blackhawks. New Jersey has now won five of their last seven games … A pair of second period power play goals by Jason Chimera helped the Capitals down the Philadelphia Flyers 5-2. Chimera would add an assist for a three-point night and Tom Wilson and Evgeny Kuznetsov would each finish with a pair of helpers.
