Seahawks’ Marshawn Lynch reportedly helps McDonald’s employee with $500 gift
Seattle running back Marshawn Lynch gets a lot of grief for how he acts in front of cameras, but he does some good things when none are around, which is certainly laudable.
One such example comes from TMZ Sports: while in Dallas earlier this month (he was allowed to stay in the city to be with teammate Ricardo Lockette, who suffered a neck injury against the Cowboys), Lynch struck up a conversation with a 17-year old worker while in a local McDonald’s.
“I told him I liked his shoes — navy blue Buscemis — and how I wanted to buy a pair and we all started talking,” said Terrance Downs, who was mopping the restaurant’s floors when Lynch entered.
Lynch asked Downs about school and what he has for career plans; Downs said he is into fashion and would like to own a boutique. The fashion part certainly makes sense, as the Buscemis are an exclusive sneaker that retails at $800 and above.
Lynch gave Downs $500, telling him, “If you’re serious about getting those shoes, here’s some money to help you get ’em. My job is to continue to see you grow.”
Downs did buy the shoes he coveted, and said his motivation to succeed is even stronger after meeting Lynch in part so “I can do the same thing for someone else one day.”
A representative for the owner of the McDonald’s confimed the interaction, adding, “Marshawn left a huge impact on Terrance.”
