Greg Hardy on Twitter: ‘Innocent until proven guilty’
Dallas Cowboys defensive end Greg Hardy’s Twitter account is … well, it’s interesting.
Hardy, for the first time that anyone can recall, expressed some remorse on Twitter last weekend, seemingly for an incident that led to him missing 15 games last season and being suspended for four this season, when he was accused of throwing his girlfriend on a bed of assault rifles and then strangling her. Hardy lost a bench trial, won on appeal when the alleged victim wouldn’t testify (prosecutors believed Hardy paid her off) and the entire incident was expunged from his legal records.
Hardy expressed “regret” in a tweet and said he wanted to be a better person, after Deadspin published photos of his ex-girlfriend’s bruises. Hardy didn’t specify what he was regretful for, but it was a bit of a change.
Then this week he made it clear that he feels he’s innocent and apparently being discriminated against, with a change in his Twitter bio:
Hardy changed the bio again to lyrics from the Tupac song “Hail Mary.” Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said the team talked to Hardy about the “innocent” bio change.
“We address problems head on, we solve them and we move on,” Garrett said, via ESPNDallas’ Jean-Jacques Taylor.
Sure, coach.
Anyway, if you want to see a ton of people supporting Hardy get retweeted and the other random messages from Hardy to the public about his innocence (and Tupac references!), his Twitter account is the place to be I guess.
