Strange Braden Holtby glove save called no goal (Video)
Washington Capitals goaltender Braden Holtby made a save in the first period that needed to be reviewed to determine exactly how he stopped the puck.
In the above video you can see Holtby, after making an initial save on the Detroit Red Wings, puts his glove to the back of the net. After this move, the puck then zips away from the goalmouth.

It’s tough to figure that Holtby could put his glove in the back of the net without dragging the puck with him, which is probably why the play was reviewed. The call on the ice was no goal.
Said the NHL Situation Room:
At 5:56 of the first period in the Capitals/Red Wings game, the Situation Room initiated a video review to further examine a play from 2:14. Video review was inconclusive in determining whether the puck completely crossed the Washington goal line. Therefore the original call on the ice stands – no goal Detroit.
Both teams were scoreless after one period with Holtby making nine saves for the Caps.
