NC State reinstates starting OL Will Richardson after suspension
The suspension of N.C. State offensive lineman Will Richardson only lasted one week.
After Richardson was arrested on Nov. 1 for DWI, Wolfpack head coach Dave Doeren announced an indefinite suspension for the redshirt freshman. Richardson sat out Saturday’s win over Boston College and Doeren subsequently announced Monday that Richardson had been reinstated.
Richardson started the first eight games of the season at right tackle. According to the News & Observer, Doeren told reporters Monday that Richardson has to “earn his right back on the field” and will compete with redshirt freshman Tyler Jones this week in practice. With Richardson out, Jones started against the Eagles.
Richardson, 19, has a court date scheduled for Jan. 19.
The Wolfpack improved to 6-3 on the season with their win over Boston College. Next on the schedule is a road game at No. 16 Florida State this weekend.
