Giants fan allegedly fails to burn giant Bucs flag, takes glorious mugshot instead
Only in Florida.
Except, this Florida man was a New York Giants fan, which maybe makes twice as much sense now?
Anyhow, one Giants fan was apparently so fired up after his team sunk the Bucs on Sunday that he allegedly tried to burn an 80-by-50 foot Buccaneers flag that hangs from a 15-foot pole outside the team’s corporate offices, according to the Tampa Tribune. The $26,000 flag was fire-retardant and suffered minor damage.
Now, normally I don’t condone flag-burning, but aren’t most pirate flags a little singed on the end? Maybe 32-year-old Justin Raboni of North Palm Beach, Fla., was just trying to make it slightly more realistic.
Cops must not have bought that excuse, since they arrested the man for criminal mischief and marijuana possession, per the Tampa Tribune report, which sorta makes sense when you see the mugshot.
Maybe he was just trying to light something else and the flag got in the way. And give him credit for climbing a 15-foot flagpole. The biggest surprise, though: The flag stood this long without Bucs fans not burning it.
