The 29-year-old pitcher spent five seasons in the majors, four of which came with the Braves. He was considered one of the better young pitchers in the game with Atlanta before shoulder issues ruined his career.
During his first three seasons with the Braves, Hanson posted a 3.28 ERA over 460 1/3 innings. He spent two separate stints on the disabled list in 2011 due to a shoulder impingement and was not the same once he returned. Hanson pitched just 247 2/3 innings over the next two seasons, posting a 4.76 ERA.
Hanson has spent the past two seasons in the minors attempting to make it back the majors. He posted a 6.16 ERA over 49 2/3 innings with the Chicago White Sox Triple-A club in 2014, and put up a 4.76 ERA over 70 innings in the San Francisco Giants minor-league system last year.
Details are hard to come by at this point, so we’ll be sure to update this post as we receive more news on the situation.
