7-Eleven owner has fun at expense of Patriots’ Tom Brady
Eagle-eyed customers at a Denver-area 7-Eleven store in recent months may have noticed a little message at the top of their receipt for chips and Gatorade: “Tom Brady’s a Cheater.”
Joshua Harrison, who owns the franchise in Aurora, Colo., calls himself a die-hard Pittsburgh Steelers fan and added the message a few months ago to express his thoughts on the quarterback’s role in the deflate-gate scandal.
“I think he’s a cheater. That’s definitely my opinion,” Harrison told staion KDVR. “I think 31 other teams and fans will agree with me.”
But once word spread of what Harrison was doing, another 7-Eleven franchisee had a response.
Mike Zotto, who has a store in Beverly, Mass., located north of Boston, altered his receipts to say, “Tom Brady is a football God!!” He added, “Haters live in Denver!” on the bottom.
Harrison said his message was strictly a jab at Brady, who will be in Denver to face the Broncos on Nov. 29, but 7-Eleven Corporate asked him to stop printing the message on his sales slips, and Harrison complied.
He switched to “Steelers 14-4”, which he optimistically hopes is Pittsburgh’s final record this season.
