Cowboys’ Greg Hardy posts vague tweet about ‘regret’
On Saturday night, Cowboys’ defensive end Greg Hardy posted two tweets:
The first tweet is vague, with no mention of the acts of domestic violence he was found to have perpetrated against his former girlfriend, Nicole Holder, before a technicality in North Caorlina law resulted in charges being dropped, nor an apology to Holder, though some have interpreted the message as just that.
There are numerous things Hardy may regret doing, from his assault on Holder to his tone deaf, misogynistic press conference before his first game with Dallas last month, to physically confronting the Cowboys’ special teams coach during a loss to the Giants.

But Hardy’s largely empty words shouldn’t be a surprise at this point. After all, he has the full backing of his owner, Jerry Jones. The Cowboys released a statement attributed to Jones on Friday night after the photos of Holder’s multiple bruises were published by Deadspin, and it is also largely empty words.
“While we did not have access to the photos that became public today, we were and are aware of the serious nature of this incident. We as an organization take this very seriously. We do not condone domestic violence. We entered into the agreement with Greg fully understanding that there would be scrutiny and criticism. We have given Greg a second chance. He is a member of our team and someone who is grateful for the opportunity he has been given to move forward with his life and his career.”
Jones has called Hardy “one of the real leaders” on this Dallas team (and that was after he went after one of the coaches), and both Jerry and Stephen Jones have expressed a desire to sign Hardy beyond this season.
When police saw a battered Nicole Holder walking in Charlotte after she fled Hardy’s apartment, she told them there was no point in detailing what Hardy had done to her becuase nothing would happen to the Pro Bowl player. Again and again in recent months, and especially in recent days, she has been proven right.
