Australian League outfielder crashes through wall attempting a catch
The Major League Baseball season might be over, but there’s still plenty of baseball being played in North America and other parts of the world.
Of course, our main focus will be on the hot stove action in MLB, but from time to time we’ll venture outside MLB to bring you some of the best, worst and weirdest highlights from baseball leagues all over the globe.
Highlights like this one, which took place during a recent Australian Baseball League game in Adelaide.
Hello, wall.
The outfielder involved actually has a major league connection. He’s 23-year-old Marc Wik, a 21st round selection of the Houston Astros back in 2012.
The versatile and apparently unbreakable fielder clearly plays the game hard, but has been struggling to move up the Astors ladder, hitting just .256/.372/.381 with 15 home runs in 253 games. He spent the 2015 season playing for the Lancaster JetHawks of the California League, the Astros High-A squad, before being assigned to the Adelaide Bite in Australia for the winter.
Based on this clip at least, he’s making quite an impression in the Land Down Under and literally leaving his mark on the league. According to Cut 4, Wik not only avoided a serious injury, he remained in the game and finished 0-for-1 with a pair of walks the Bites 6-4 victory against the Melbourne Aces.
