CFP selects Atlanta, Santa Clara and New Orleans as future championship sites
The College Football Playoff has announced the sites of its future championship games.
Atlanta will host the 2018 championship on Jan. 8, Santa Clara will host the 2019 championship on Jan. 7, and New Orleans will host the 2020 championship on Jan. 13. Those three sites were choosen from nine bids that also included Charlotte, Detroit, Houston, Minnesota, San Antonio and South Florida.
“It is an exciting day for the College Football Playoff,” Bill Hancock, executive director of the CFP., said “This was an extremely competitive process among the nine wonderful communities. We were pleased and honored by the time and energy that the people in all of the cities put into their bids. Atlanta, the Bay Area and New Orleans have much to offer and will welcome the participating teams and fans with warm support and exceptional facilities. We look forward to bringing college football’s showcase event to these three communities.”
Glendale, Ariz., will host this year’s College Football Playoff championship on Jan. 11, 2016 and Tampa will host the 2017 championship on Jan. 9.
