Anze Kopitar ‘feeling better’ after leaving Kings win over Blues for concussion ‘protocol’
Center Anze Kopitar left the Los Angeles Kings’ 3-0 win over the St. Louis Blues on Tuesday for what Kings coach Darryl Sutter called “protocol” for a possible head injury.
The Sutter quotes come via LA Kings Insider:
I talked to him after. He’s feeling better. That’s good. [Reporter: Did they do the concussion and quiet room stuff?] Yeah, that’s where he was. Obviously, protocol.
Kopitar exited the game after the first period of the contest. It’s unclear how he sustained a possible head injury, but he seemed to take an elbow from Blues forward Ryan Reaves.
Kopitar has just four points (all goals) in 12 games. He is in the last season of a seven-year $47.6 million contract. He has yet to sign a new deal with Los Angeles and can become an unrestricted free agent on July 1.
Earlier in the game, Kopitar was robbed on a beautiful glove save by Blues goaltender Jake Allen. The Kings have won eight of nine games after starting the year 0-3-0.
