Report: Rams want injury-inducing cement at Edward Jones Dome replaced
After two opposing players slipped in recent weeks, the St. Louis Rams are pushing to have the exposed concrete surface behind the bench areas replaced before their next home game, according to Fox Sports’ Mike Garafolo.
Cleveland’s Josh McCown and San Francisco’s Reggie Bush were hurt in back-to-back weeks on the surface, which has been in place since the Rams began playing in the Edward Jones Dome in 1995. Bush suffered a likely season-ending knee injury last Sunday when his feet gave out from under him when he was trying to stop himself on the concrete. On Oct. 25, McCown hurt his shoulder when he collided with the wall that supports the elevated seats behind the visitors’ bench.

Rams coach Jeff Fisher told reporters on Monday that the team was in discussions with the NFL about the concrete surface, but Garafolo reports that the Rams have made it clear that they intend to change the surface to one that gives better footing before their next home game, on Nov. 15 against Chicago.
It’s unclear at this point what the solution will be: Since the Edward Jones Dome is owned by the city of St. Louis, the Rams have to work with local officials on the decision. The Rams have four home games remaining this year, and they could be the final four games for the franchise in St. Louis, as it is one of the teams in the running to move to Los Angeles.
