Source: Parsons back 6 months after surgery
LOS ANGELES — Dallas Mavericks forward Chandler Parsons will make his season debut Sunday against the Los Angeles Lakers exactly six months after undergoing hybrid microfracture surgery on his right knee, a league source told ESPN.com.
Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle said before the game that if Parsons played at all, it would only limited to the first half.
“This is the beginning of a process and so we’ll go from here,” Carlisle said.
Parson’s recovery would have been significantly longer if he had undergone the full microfracture operation.
Parsons, who is in the second season of a three-year, $46 million contract, averaged 15.7 points, 4.9 rebounds and 2.4 assists in his first Dallas campaign last year and is expected to have an increased playmaking role with leading scorer Monta Ellis‘ departure.
Parsons played in only one game of the Mavs’ first-round series loss to the Houston Rockets before being shut down due to his knee injury.
