A shot arrived. Price made the save, and it deflected to Pouliot.
The Oilers forward then made a great play, batting the puck out of the air towards the open net behind Price. It looked like a goal … and then P.K. Subban got off the ice in front of Price, quickly lunged back to the cage and used his stick to somehow keep the puck from crossing the line, himself batting it out of the air.
A shot arrived, Price made the save, and it deflected to Pouliot.
Took at closer look. This was insane:
Pouliot would later beat Price on a breakaway, proving that the Hockey Gods are kind and just when they want to be.
It doesn’t get much better than that as far as defensive plays go. Keep that one handy for the Norris Trophy sizzle reel.
