BEST BETS
Harper: Warriors (-1) over Rockets: The Rockets want to show they’re the best team in the West. They want to show they’re the on the same level as the Warriors. They want to show they’re the team to beat and real title contenders. It would be a big step just to not get blown out by Golden State. The Warriors won six of their nine games against Houston last season by at least 11 points. Different Rockets team, sure, but the Warriors are still better.
Pandian: Nuggets (-4) over Timberwolves: The Timberwolves played an inspired game on Wednesday night, beating the Lakers, but the Nuggets looked quite sharp as well, dominating the Houston Rockets on the road. New head coach Mike Malone’s system seems to be well-suited for the Nuggets — expect them to come away with the win in a close game.
Herbert: Spurs (-14) over Nets: I’m trying to figure out how big the line would have to be for me to pick the Nets. I mean, San Antonio is at home, coming off a tough loss and is worlds better than this depressing Brooklyn team. This looks like a massive blowout.
The Warriors laugh at those who pick against them. (USATSI)
