NBA, Adidas officially unveil awesome 2015-16 Christmas Day uniforms
We’ve known they were coming for months now, but the NBA and Adidas officially unveiled this year’s Christmas Day uniforms on Friday, and … hold on, let me check … yep, they’re still wildly dope:
Dubbed the “Season’s Greetings Collection,” this year’s model of the Adidas/NBA collaboration eschews ill-fated prior gimmicks like sleeves and first-names-on-the-back in favor of simple, clean “primary team colors and cream tones,” “player names and numbers […] showcased in holiday-style script and detailed with woven rows of stitching,” and a “scarlet NBA seal on the back of the jersey “as a nod to holiday greeting cards.” The new holiday-sweater-influenced game socks by Stance — who are doing some pretty fun things now that they’ve got the NBA contract — are a nice new touch, too. (Keep an eye on NBAstore.com, NBAstore.eu and Stance.com in the days ahead if you’re looking to pick ’em up.)
The Christmas quintuple-header will tip off at 12 p.m. ET on Dec. 25 with Anthony Davis’ New Orleans Pelicans taking on Chris Bosh, Dwyane Wade, Goran Dragic and the Miami Heat. That’ll be followed by Fred Hoiberg’s new-look Chicago Bulls visiting Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook and the Oklahoma City Thunder at 2:30 p.m. ET, and an eagerly anticipated rematch of the 2015 NBA Finals between the Cleveland Cavaliers and defending champion Golden State Warriors at 5 p.m. ET.
The evening slate will feature a Texas tangle between the San Antonio Spurs and Houston Rockets at 8 p.m. ET, and a Hollywood nightcap for La-La Land bragging rights between the Los Angeles Clippers and Los Angeles Lakers at 10:30 p.m. ET. We don’t know yet quite how well each team will be playing by the time Christmas rolls around, but if nothing else, we can expect them to look pretty damn good when they take the court.
