NC State to wear alternate uniforms for Military Appreciation Day (Photos)
NC State will wear an alternate uniform as part of Military Appreciation Day at Carter-Finley Stadium.
The “IRONWOLF” uniform is iron gray and has red wolf claw marks on its shoulder pads and pants. Additionally, the new helmet has a gray and black camouflage pattern.
The program said in a release that the uniforms are meant to “pay homage to the brave men and women who serve our country at home and abroad.”
“Military Appreciation Day has become a very special event for our team,” head coach Dave Doeren said in a release. “We wanted to wear our next alternate uniform to honor those who serve and I think the color and design of the IRONWOLF uniform accomplishes that.”

The name “IRONWOLF” comes from the team slogan, “Iron Sharpens Iron.”
“When two iron blades are rubbed together, each blade gets sharper and more efficient,” Doeren said. “The same is true in the military and in football. We rely on each other to make each other better.”
NC State (5-2, 1-2) will debut the new look on Nov. 21 against Syracuse. The Wolfpack hosts No. 3 Clemson this weekend.
