We have huge news! DraftKings has decided to change their scoring! Because of that, they haven’t yet released their pricing, but there could be a lot of value to explore there this weekend depending on how they price everyone. In the mean time, take a look at what it’s like now.
DraftKings New Scoring
They’ve added a few different scoring categories that will make central defenders and defensive midfielders relevant, at least partially. The scoring is now a lot closer to MondoGoal, and we’ll have a lot of picks that are similar now for both sites. The most important part is that as it regards to this column is that strikers and goalkeepers are fairly unchanged, and they still obtain high value from clean sheets, wins, and scorers respectively.
Goalkeepers
MondoGoal
Looking at goalkeepers this week, it’s once again a fairly simple decision. In cash games, there’s almost only one choice, and that’s Joe Hart. He gets Norwich City at home and the mismatch is big enough to make him the safest goalkeeper by a big margin. He is also viable in GPPs, as his ceiling is over 20 points if he can get five or so saves.
In GPPs, you can also look at Newcastle goalkeeper Elliot. He isn’t a great option, but he plays at home against a mediocre Stoke City side and is extremely cheap. Newcastle are up and down all the time, so he is certainly risky, but at that price, risk comes with it.
Scorers
MondoGoal
On the striker side of things, there is once again just one option in cash and that’s Wilfried Bony. Manchester City are heavily favored against the team that’s conceded the most in the Premier League and this could be a 5-6 goal affair. Bony will be 90% owned in cash, and he should be. You don’t want to fade him.
In GPPs, things are different, but once again Bony is the top choice. Diego Costa and Olivier Giroud are also options, but of a lower tier. Jamie Vardy is liked almost as much as Alexis Sanchez by the sports book but comes in cheaper and is in better form. Mitrovic sticks out as a value at such low of a price.
Enjoy the new scoring on DraftKings and let me know if you have any questions!
