World Series Game 1 delayed after Fox loses power to broadcast truck
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Game 1 of the World Series turned into a bunch of baseball players standing around for five minutes while broadcast issues delayed the game and caused fans watching at home to wonder what was going on.
In the bottom of the fourth inning, the broadcast went off the air as Fox lost power to one of its trucks. The broadcast was affected for eight minutes, according to Houston Chronicle media reporter David Barron. While the game was held up, Matt Harvey paced around the pitcher’s mound for the New York Mets and Mike Moustakas waited to step in the batter’s box.

The Royals eventually announced that the game was delayed because neither team had a feed to review plays for possible challenges. Play started again when both teams agreed to go on without replay, according to Fox Sports’ Ken Rosenthal.
Meanwhile, here’s what happened on the scene, as crews worked to restore the power.
Viewers at home were switched to MLB’s international feed, which both ball clubs eventually used for their clubhouse reviews too.
The burning question: Who pulled the plug on Fox? Did anybody see noted MLB villains Pete Rose or A-Rod, both postseason analysts for Fox Sports, near the broadcast truck like they were reenacting a scene from “Airplane?”
It actually wasn’t that nefarious, according to Fox:
Fox Sports statement: broadcast outage caused by “rare electronics failure” by both primary, backup generators.
