Green Bay Packers at Denver Broncos Point Spread Pick. The 6-0 Denver Bronco’s head into 6-0 Green Bay Packers for this week eight of the NFL game day matchup on the grass of Sports Authority Field. Kick-off time is scheduled for 8:30PM ET.
Betting Odds
Point Spread: Packers -3
Over/Under: 45.5
Both of these teams are undefeated and each is coming off a bye week and while the main match-up is between the 2 QB’s of Aaron Rodgers and Peyton Manning the defense may be the key in this game.
Denver has the league’s top-ranked defense, which is important since Manning has not looked himself this season. On the other side of the coin Aaron Rodgers did not have a great last game and the Green Bay defense allowed over 500 passing yards, but they still got the win.
The Broncos are 15-1 in their last 16 home games.
In terms of the odds offense trumps the defense, as the Packers are the 3-point road favorite.
In their last games the Broncos beat the Cleveland Browns 26-23 in OT and the Packers beat the San Diego Chargers 27-20.
This season both of these teams have an O/U record of 2-4.
The Broncos are 2-0 at home this season and the Packers are 2-0 on the road.
Rodgers did have 255 yards with 2 TD and 0 INT in the win over San Diego, but he also had his lowest completion percentage of the season. Still, he has a great and deep WR corps, the 2nd highest QB rating the league, and has 15 TD and only 2 INT.
Denver does have the league’s #1 pass defense, but in the last 2 weeks the Browns and the Raiders were able to move the ball in the air.
Packers RB Eddie Lacy has been a no show in the last 2 games with only 30 total yards and James Starks now leads the team in rushing yards. He did have 112 yards in the win over the Chargers, but most came on a 65-yard run.
Denver is undefeated mainly because of their defense, as they only rank 18th in the league in passing yards per game and 30th in rushing yards per game. Manning only has 7 TD on the season and he has been picked off a league high 10 times. He has the targets at his disposal, but has not looked himself and he is not getting much help from the struggling offensive line. That is not good facing a Green Bay pass rush that ranks 2nd in the league in sacks.
The Green Bay pass defense, which ranks 14th in the league, gave up a ton of yards last week, but they do rank 3rd in INT.
Ronnie Hillman was one of the heroes in the OT win over the Browns with his 2nd 110+ yard rushing game of the season and he must play well again to help a struggling Manning out. The Packers stuffed the run in the win over the Chargers in their last game and overall their run defense ranks 15th in the league.

The Packers have shown some cracks on defense that the Broncos may be able to exploit allowing 488 passing yards to the Chargers after allowing 191 yards on the ground against the Rams in their previous game. Look for Denver to use a lot of Ronnie Hillman early to take the pressure off of QB Peyton Manning and then the play action to take advantage of the pass defense.
