Want to live near Wrigley Field? It will only cost you $10 million
Imagine leaving your house for a baseball game, and arriving at the park in less than five minutes. Actually, you don’t have to imagine it, you can finally make that a reality.
If you’re a Chicago Cubs fan with a lot of money, you can live that fantasy. A small property near Wrigley Field is currently on the market. The asking price: $9.8 million!
You probably haven’t picked your jaw up off the floor yet, but that won’t stop us from giving you the details on the listing. The house is approximately 538 feet away from home plate, according to the listing on Redfin.com. It is one of the few properties in the area that is not owned by the Cubs corporation just yet.
Now, you might look at the picture and think, “$9.8 million for that!?!?!?!” While that’s a reasonable response, you have to look beyond the house to find the true value in the property. The Cubs recently purchased a McDonald’s parking lot in the area for around $20 million, so there’s clearly a huge demand for property surrounding the park.

The house isn’t even the focus here. The property could be bulldozed and used for digital signage or rooftop advertising. Given the location, that could bring in a ton of money. While the current price seems ridiculous, the seller is more than willing to wait on a decent offer, according to Curbed.
The fantasy scenario we outlined where you roll out of bed and find yourself at the ballpark seems unlikely, unfortunately. More likely than not, this property will be turned into some type of advertisement, or sold to the Cubs so they can put up a parking structure or luxury hotel or something.

That makes us a little sad. We would do something about it but $10 million is a lot of money, you know.
