Top 5 Must-See Plays from Week 7 in the NFL (Video)
Did you miss any of the Week 7 action in the NFL? We’ve got you covered. Here are five plays you shouldn’t miss.
Three’s (not enough of) a crowd
Detroit Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson might not be in the midst of one of his vintage seasons, but it doesn’t negate the fact that he’s still inhuman. Watch as Johnson — off a pass from Matthew Stafford that was tipped by the Minnesota Vikings — goes up between three defenders to make an insane catch at the goal line. This one took all of Johnson’s myriad skills.
Diggin’ it
Of course, the Vikings won the game, and thanks in part to their emerging rookie receiver, Stefon Diggs. He has come on, especially the past three games, to give the Vikings a quality playmaker outside when one had been lacking. Watch him lay out for this 36-yard touchdown catch from Teddy Bridgewater to help the Vikings beat the Lions.
Keeping it 100
This had to have been a special victory for Dwayne Harris. The New York Giants wide receiver and returner cut his teeth with the Dallas Cowboys and had some big moments with them but was cut by them before landing in New York. The Cowboys’ loss was the Giants’ gain on Sunday. Harris not only hauled in a 36-yard catch against his former team but also ran back a fourth-quarter kickoff 100 yards for what would be the game-winning score. Oh, and the guy who replaced Harris as the punt returner? He fumbled his ensuing opportunity to clinch the game for the Giants.
Dolphins’ “hidden” weapon
The Miami Dolphins had gotten away from running back Lamar Miller under former head coach Joe Philbin, and when Philbin was replaced with Dan Campbell it was the best thing for Miller. The Dolphins have gotten back to basics — aka, running the football — and Miller has rewarded them. Watch him scoot for this electric 85-yard score in the Dolphins crushing of the Houston Texans.
Element of surprise
NFL teams had been 0-for-24 on onsides kick attempts entering Sunday. The Washington Redskins broke that streak with a surprise onsides attempt against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers that caught the visiting team napping. Although the first wave of Redskins flew by the ball, Trenton Robinson was Johnny on the spot by recovering this rather clever squib by kicker Dustin Hopkins, who only joined the team in September.
