NHL Three Stars: Wheeler, Zucker set franchise records, Kings on five game win streak
No. 1 Star: Antti Raanta, New York Rangers
Raanta started in place of Henrik Lundqvist for the second time this season and picked up his second win. He made 22 saves in the Rangers 4-1 win against the Calgary Flames.
No. 2 Star: Jonathan Quick, Los Angeles Kings
After only facing 13 shots on goal in the first two periods combined, Edmonton threw 15 shots at Quick in the third period. The netminder allowed in 2 goals on 28 shots but his best save of the night came with 4-seconds left against The Chosen One that would have tied the game. Controversy ensued.
No. 3 Star: Jason Zucker, Minnesota Wild
Zucker started the game’s scoring by earning a Wild franchise record for the quickest goal to begin a game at 10 seconds:

Honorable Mention: The Wild were down 5-1 until 5:43 left in the second period when Mikko Koivu notched a power play goal. Minnesota would score three straight goals but would fall short to WInnipeg 5-4. Blake Wheeler replaced Donald Audette as the Winnipeg Jets record holder for number of games (8) with a point to start the season; Wheeler had 2 assists and was a plus-2 in the game … Dan Girardi’s goal, assisted by Southern California castoffs Emerson Etem and Jarett Stoll, would stand as the game winner … Dustin Brown was credited with 8 shots on goal (not kidding) in the Kings 3-2 win. A less doughy Drew Doughty assisted on the game tying and game winning goals by Jeff Carter and Tanner Pearson, respectively. Cam Talbot made 31 saves in the loss.
Did You Know? Antti Raanta is 16-0-3 at home in his time with the Chicago Blackhawks and now the New York Rangers.
Dishonorable Mention: Darcy Kuemper was replaced by Devan Dubnyk 51-seconds into the second period after giving up 4 goals on 18 shots. Jared Spurgeon was minus-5 in the loss … Calgary Flames scored first and then gave up 4 straight goals to New York ultimately losing 4-1. Jonas Hiller was pulled in favor of Joni Ortio to close out the final 8 minutes of the game.
